ANDREAS AIRFIELD

Spotting Info
Head north out of Ramsey on A9. As you come in to Andreas, don't turn left in to the village, carry straight on. You will come to a sharp left hand bend, turn right on the bend and follow the road up to the end. On the left is a gate near a bungalow, open it and go through but remember to close it after you. Switch on your hazard warning lights to drive up to the aircraft.

ISLE OF MAN-RONALDSWAY AIRPORT - TWR 118.9, APP 120.85

Spotting Info
On the A5 between Ballasalla and Castletown villages. Airport car park prices very reasonable (first half hour free).

  • Viewing from cafeteria on ground level and viewing terrace on top of newly refurbished and extended terminal building. As you enter airport at main roundabout there are hangars on your left with some aircraft normally parked outside - access unlikely. Visiting light aircraft park just to the west of the main terminal and are photographable through the fence alongside.

  • Good views of the whole airfield can be had by driving round to Derbyhaven on the south side of the airport. Take the first left at the roundabout past King William college and then left at the bottom and follow the road all the way (there is a car park on the right just by the approach to 03 if it is in use). Carry on round and take left at end of road and follow road to Manx Flyers flying club (do not go into the car park as it is private). Park along the roadside with good views of landing/taking off and taxiing. You can also see into Manx engineering hangars if they are open.

  • There is a further viewing spot to the north of the airfield via the A11 on the Ballasalla side (follow Industrial Estate signs on the bend just by the railway level-crossing by Ballasalla station).
