Send in a report DEENETHORPE AIRFIELD - TWR 127.575Spotting InfoHead east out of Weldon village on the A427 towards Oundle. After a sharp left bend you'll pass a building on the left, followed by a left turn down a track. The road then slowly bends round to the right, take the next left turn, it's up an unmarked, rough track. Friendly, ask for access but with varying success - sometimes there's no access, sometimes it's granted but not to go in the hangars, just logging from the doors, and other times full access is granted. Regardless, it's ok to log everything outside. Last reported September 2012. Want to update or confirm the information is still correct? Send in a report ELKINGTON-WOODSIDE FARM HELIPADSpotting InfoAfter leaving the A14 at junction 1, head north on the A5199 towards Husbands Bosworth. Take the first left after about a mile and almost immediately turn left again. Follow this road over the top of the A14 and turn right at the T-junction. Follow this road back over the A14 and the road bears to the left. The farm is on your left and this is where any helicopters parked outside can be seen. Park on the side of the road and you can read them off from the road. A public footpath also runs through the farm. Steve, the owner of this often busy helicopter maintenance facility, is very friendly and if there's no one at the workshops, ask at the cottage on the left as you drove in to see if someone is available to show you round. Or, of course, call in advance to arrange the best time to visit. Last reported March 2013. Want to update or confirm the information is still correct? Send in a report HINTON-IN-THE-HEDGES AIRFIELD - TWR 119.45Spotting InfoHead east out of Farthinghoe village on the A422 and as the road bends left, turn right. Follow this road straight, round the sharp left and right bend and the airfield is at the end. Park in the main car park and walk past the large building and cafe that the skydiving club use, down to the maintenance hangar. Very friendly, a request here usually grants access to wander round, ask in each hangar for access - results vary. If any hangars are shut, most have gaps at both ends to look through. There are a few portacabins here, some do contain aircraft, the one next to the gliding club hangar for example. Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield Last reported March 2013. LYVEDEN AIRFIELDSpotting InfoHead north on the A6116 towards Brigstock and go past the left turn for it. Take the second right onto Harley Way and the entrance is around half a mile on the left, not long after the crossroads. Friendly, ask for access. There is a separate hangar used as a workshop for repairs, you'll need to ask about access for this too as you'll need to be taken to it. Welland Gliding Club Last reported September 2012. Send in a report SPANHOE AIRFIELDSpotting InfoHead west out of Laxton and the airfield is approximately 2 miles on right, opposite a road junction and after a stream. There are a lot of hangars here with a lot of gaps to look through if they are shut. One hangar is about 150 yards away from the rest so make sure you don't miss it. They are friendly, ask for access and let them know when you leave as well as people have been locked in before. They are happy for you to log the aircraft and can tell you the registrations and talk about the aircraft but photographs aren't allowed. Last reported March 2013. Want to update or confirm the information is still correct? Send in a report SYWELL AIRFIELD - TWR 122.7Spotting Info Head northeast out of Sywell village and turn right at the mini roundabout. Follow the road round and the main airfield entrance is on the left. Viewing is only from the car park as there's no airside or hangar access therefore you'll only log what's parked this side of the control tower, usually just the visitors. Sometimes during big events and fly ins here, they do allow airside access so check this in advance and visit then. Sywell Aerodrome Last reported December 2012.
